Oriental Languages Faculty

Oriental Languages Faculty is one of the youngest faculties of Khujand State University named after academician B. Gafurov. It was founded as the department of the Tajik Philology Faculty and has been functioning as an independent one since June, 2002. Professors Umeda Gafforova, Nizomiddin Zohidi, Assistant Professors Nurullo Giosov and Abdukholik Raupov made sufficient contribution in making up the curriculum, syllabuses and developing courses at the inception of the faculty. Its successful activities were ensured by two factors as:

  • the support of the rector of the university Saydullo Abdulloev and the vice-rector Nosirjon Salimi who provided local teaching staff, necessary premises and facilities;
  • the agreementbetween the university and the International Association “Tayiba” which enrolled Arabic-speaking lecturers, such as: Amin Muhammad (Sudan), Abdullo Halaffullo (Sudan), Abdullo Hamdan (Syria), Muhammad Sodiq Avaz (Egypt) and later Yorsir Muhammad Marsur (Sudan), Muhammad Shannavi (Egypt), Umar Yusuf Sharu (Syria) who taught Arabic language and literature of the Arabic world and also provided modern equipment.
