Arabic Philology Department was founded in June, 1999 under the guidance of languages Assistant Professor U. Gafforova. Experienced scholars, such as Salimi N., Zohidi N., Gafforova U., Giyosov N. and others carried on academic activities and research in various fields of Oriental Studies, Arabic and Farsi Philology in particular. A number of foreign lecturers worked along with them. The department was successively run by

Assistant Professor Asrorov A. from 2003 to 2015., Senior Lecturer Gafurov A. from 2015 to 2017, Assistant Professor Dadoboev Q. from 2017 to 2018. During this period some scholars successfully accomplished their research and defended their scholarly theses. The outcomes of their research have found their reflection in the book “Farsi Literature of the XVII-XIX cc.” by Zohidov N. and the book “Arabic Oratory Art in Early Islam Ages” by U. Gafforova. The department has been carrying on research on the themes “Literary Ties between Arab and Ajam”.
