​Faculty of Uzbek studies

The Faculty of Uzbek studies is established in the light of the policy initiated by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, under the leadership of Founder of peace and national unity – Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and by permit of Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Tajikistan under number №01/1-1073 dated 29.10.2018 for enhancement of beneficial cooperation between two friendly countries – Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with efforts and the order #3 dated 31st of October 2018 of Scientists Council of State educational institution “Khujand state university named after academician Bobojon Gafurov”, as well as by the Order #328 dated 05.11.2018 of rector of State educational institution “Khujand state university named after academician Bobojon Gafurov”.The faculty commenced its activity in intramural and extramural (distance) forms of study.

On 05.11.2018 Ph.D. in Philological science, Associate professor Turdiboev Tohir Hasanovich was appointed to the position of Dean of the faculty.


This faculty is provided with human resource capacity, as well as it has a lot of opportunities for training and education of students. 2 Doctors of Science, professor and 16 Ph.D., Associate professors in this specialty made their influenced contribution in education process development and enhancement of education quality. There are two departments in this faculty – “Uzbek language and its study methods”, “Uzbek literature and its study methods”, the number of students is made 238 students (109 students of intramural and 129 students of extramural form of study).

It should be emphasized that the Faculty of Uzbek studies is established in 1991 in 80th anniversary of university, in 2011 its activity became limited, its mean that up to this day the departments of the faculty of Uzbek studies was dependent of the faculty of Oriental languages.


At present, cooperation of university with higher educational and secondary professional institutions of this country is developed, in 2018 it was signed five International cooperation Agreement with state universities of Samarkand, Andijon and Fergana of Uzbekistan that further it will create favorable conditions for strengthening of scientific and cultural relations and bilateral exchange experience.
