THE RETURN OF A HANDFUL OF SOIL: THE REVIVAL OF THE NATION'S MEMORY

Preserving history, honoring the nation's devoted figures, and appreciating the merits of the brave children of the nation are considered among the core pillars of national statehood. During the era of independence, thanks to the far-sighted and constructive policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the issue of reviving national values and introducing prominent historical figures has assumed particular importance.

One of the significant historical events is the repatriation of a handful of soil from the burial sites of the nation's virtuous sons – Heroes of Tajikistan, Nusratullo Maksum and Shirinsho Shohtemur. This initiative is not merely a symbolic and official gesture, but a sign of the state and nation's profound respect for the personalities who rendered worthy services for freedom, truth, and the building of Tajik statehood.

Nusratullo Maksum and Shirinsho Shohtemur are regarded as being among the very first leaders and fighters on the path of Tajik state-building.

They fell victim to the unjust policies of their time, and for many years, their names and activities remained hidden. However, as a result of achieving State Independence, historical truth was revived once more. The Republic of Tajikistan was able to bring the names of these loyal sons of the nation back to life and present their services to society. Bringing a handful of their burial soil back to the Homeland is a symbol of respect for the past, an appreciation for the self-sacrifice of our ancestors, and a strengthening of national self-awareness. Furthermore, remembering the cultural figures of the nation, including Nisor Muhammad, plays a major role in elevating patriotism and enlightenment among the youth. The legacy and services of such personalities have left an important mark on the development of national culture, literature, and spirituality, and today they can continue to serve as an exemplary model for the younger generation.

Today, it is the obligation of every self-aware individual to respect the nation's history, the services of the Homeland's renowned children, and the values of independence. For a nation that values its past and its heroes can build a stable and bright future. This initiative further strengthens the sense of national pride, unity, and love for the Homeland in the heart of every citizen.
