Department of International Relations

The International Relations Office (IRO) of Khujand State University named after academician Bobojon Gafurov (KSU) was established in 1996. It was headed by lecturer H.Samadov later lecturers S.Jalolov, R.Rahmatova, and Doctor of Philology, Professor U. Gafforova. Since 2012 Azizov A.A. is a vice-rector for International Relations with his staff Karimov T., head of the department of international relations and Senior-specialists Hafizova M. and Istamkulov J. are working.

The Office is responsible for establishing and developing effective academic and research relations with leading Universities of the foreign countries, embassies, international organizations, and involving International students. And also is in charge for planning, managing and controlling the international relations programs and projects of Khujand State University, for promoting, disseminating and running its international academic and administrative cooperation initiatives, including its main task which is the implementation and development of international policy and the promotion of the university’s internationalisation process.

Currently, at the university students from neighbor countries as the Republics of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Korea, Afghanistan, Turkey and etc. are studying.

International Relations Office consists of two sectors Developing and Implementing Programs Sector and the Sector of Qualification and work with Foreign Nationals.

The University has signed many Bilateral Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding with 32 countries of EU, UK, USA, Russia and Central Asian`s universities including State Agrarian University of Chine, Russian State University of Statistics & Information in Moscow, St. Petersburg State University, West Michigan University (USA), Kharkov State University of Radio- electronics (Ukraine), the Mahyar Higher Studies Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Osh State University (Kyrgyz Republic), Batken State University (Kyrgyzstan), Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Gumʙold University (Germany), University of Salonikov (Greece), the Junlich Scientific Center (Germany), Kazan State University (Russia), Kyrgyz State Technical University named after Isoq Razakov (Kyrgyzstan), University of Daugavpilsi Latvia (Latvia), the Russian-Tajik University (Slavijan) (Tajikistan), and etc.

In 2013 KSU become a member of The Association of Persianate Society (ASPS) and corporate with the following international organization as: SOROS, GIZ, ACCELS, EUROASIA, CARANA CORPORATION, OSCE, ERASMUS MUNDUS, TEMPUS, ERASMUS PLUS, UNESCO, USAID, DAAD, Aga-Khan, and etc.

Gradually, the number of university scholars and students who are taking an active part in International conferences, symposiums, workshops and seminars etc are increasing. The first winner of the USAID Fulbright program was docent A.Boimatov 1995 who visited the University of Chicago for four months. He was followed by professors Khabilov T.K., Sattorov T.K., docents A.Juraev and Z.Usmanova.

Every year almost 100 university academic and administrative staff go aboard to study, seminars, conferences, symposiums, meetings, internships within the various projects, mostly in the framework of Erasmus Mundus, Tempus and Erasmus Plus projects, where our university is a partner in the realization and implementation of the projects and also with the financial support of international organization, embassies and other funding sources.

KSU intends to be a globally-connected university by developing its bilateral relations with advanced world-wide universities. As well the University cooperates with many International Organizations, Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran and etc.
